I’m a 30-something research engineer in the bowling industry that randomly decided to join the gym to take control of my weight and my life. About three months into training with a personal trainer, I decided I’d run a half marathon even though I had never before been a runner. I had about two months to train and I couldn’t run a mile on my first training day. I trained hard, cried harder, and pushed through every negative thought to complete my first half marathon in just under my three hour goal.  I’ve managed to lose, and keep off, about 80 pounds (and counting). I don’t diet; I love brownies (especially warm brownies); but, I try to make healthier food choices. I am disciplined but I don’t deprive myself. I run for me, because I like LOVE it and because it reminds me of how far I’ve come from where I once was. I am a runner and I’m finally running my life…one glorious mile at a time.

I find that there’s nothing harder than the very first mile that starts off the running journey! Much luck and power on your running adventures! =)
