I don’t write about this a lot, but I am a big football fan. And, I went to college at Florida State so I am a Seminole fan. Today is our first football game of the season so I’m wearing my Raw Threads “I Only Run in Garnet and Gold” shirt. The great thing is that the game will be on when I’m ready to eat dinner and start relaxing for the evening so I’ll be able to watch it.
I have some breakfast while I’m getting dressed. The TV is on ESPN but I am not paying much attention to it. It’s on merely to for background noise.
I head out the door and it is once again a nice morning. It is cool but I know I will be sweaty as soon as I get running. There are more people waiting to cross the street this morning than there were yesterday.
I head straight to the corral area rather than walking through the Family Reunion area. I don’t need to go to through the reunion area since I don’t have a bag to check.
I am in corral C for the 10k. I am planning to take pictures again today since a large portion of the race is in the parks. There will be more light today as well so I should be able to get a few more pics that I couldn’t get as well yesterday. (DL 10k 2014 Course Map)
After corral A is sent, it is only a few minute wait before corral B. Then a few more minutes and my corral is off. We follow a similar path as yesterday, down the street past Paradise Pier. This time though, we keep going straight and actually pass by my hotel. We are on the streets of Anaheim for about two miles before we turn into the parks and backlots of Disneyland.
Since there is more light, I am able to get some better pictures. I even stopped and got my picture with Elvis. My sister should love this as she’s an Elvis fan.
Even though I stop for some pictures, the miles tick by quickly in the parks. I exit the park and make the last stretch through Downtown Disney, turn in front of the Disneyland Hotel, and then cross the finish line.
My official finish time is 1:20:26. I had a great time running today. The parks were so much fun and I am happy I enjoyed the race and stopped for some pictures. I really am looking forward to coming back again to actually have fun in the parks. I’ve still never “been” to Disneyland!
After breakfast number two and a nap, I’m going to meet up with some friends for dinner. We’ll watch part of the Florida State game while we’re having dinner in Downtown Disney. Then I’ll just watch the rest while I’m winding down for the night.
On a side note: I felt a little ache in my shoe while I was running but didn’t think much of it. I thought I might’ve had my shoe tied a little too tight or I might’ve gotten a little rock in it since it didn’t bother me until late in the race. I couldn’t have been more wrong. When I took my shoe off, I had a bloody sock. Note to self…cut your bird claw toenails! GAH!!!
