I’ve been to the Expo at Princess weekend three times. But, I’ve always been to it on Saturday since I’ve only ever done the half marathon. This year, I have to attend on the first day since I’m running all the races.
I leave work a little early and head home for a quick stop. My dogs need to go outside and I’d like to change clothes. I’m in and out of the house as quickly as I can be. I need to get to the Expo and I don’t want to hit the bad afternoon traffic. I also want to get to the Expo and get my stuff so I can get back home and get some things done. I will have to get up early to drive to Disney for the 5k tomorrow so I’ll also want to go to bed at a decent hour so I can get some rest.
Thankfully, I don’t hit a lot of traffic and make it to the Wide World of Sports complex in about 40 minutes. I park and head towards the Field House where bib pickup is. I’ll have to get my bibs first. Then I can head over to the Expo where I will get my t-shirts and gear bags and I can do any shopping that I want to do. I had already planned my stops thanks to the Event Guide.
It’s early evening and there is almost no one in the Field House for bib pickup. I already have my waivers so I’m able to walk right in. There is no one in my line so I get my 5k bib and my Glass Slipper Challenge bib quickly. They also give me my commemorative pins that I had preordered and direct me to the Jostens center for t-shirts and gear bags.
There is an official runDisney merchandise booth in the Field House as well. I look at some of the items and the only thing I purchase is the medal for my Mickey Vinylmation.
I head over to the Expo and head to the back of the floor where shirt pickup is. I get my 5k t-shirt and gear bag. Then I get my Glass Slipper Challenge bag that includes my Enchanted 10k shirt, my Princess half marathon shirt, and my Glass Slipper Challenge shirt. The shirt pickup area forces you to exit through the runDisney merchandise booth. I look around some more but don’t buy anything else. I don’t want any more shirts and most of the rest of the stuff (shot glasses, magnets, jackets, etc.) just doesn’t interest me.
I walk around the Expo a bit. Sparkly Soul is there and these are my favorite headbands. They are elastic all the way around and they don’t pull my hair or give me a headache. They have some new colors and one that will match the top I’m wearing in the half marathon on Sunday so I purchase a couple new ones. You can never have too many sparkly headbands in my opinion.
I walk around a bit more and don’t really find anything else that I want so I head back to the car. I’ve got to get back home so I can finish packing and get some rest for tomorrow.
Until then…happy running.
