I still don’t feel well. I found a Target that wasn’t too far from my hotel yesterday. It was quick bus ride so I picked up more cold medicine, cough drops, and some other “I feel like garbage” essentials. I’ve been taking meds and trying to eat and keep myself hydrated but it’s looking like I need to go to the doctor because nothing is working. I just need to get through another two races and then I can go back to Florida and see my doctor.
I’m up and moving as slowly as ever. I feel like I’m in a fog even though I’ve been sleeping my entire vacation so far. I get dressed and eat my breakfast. The buses yesterday were pretty quick but I figure there will be even more people today for the inaugural Tinker Bell 10k so I head down early; I don’t want to take any chances. And, I don’t know exactly where I’m going once I get off the bus!
Again the buses are quick. The bus drops everyone at the same terminal and we head through security, pass through the plaza, and then walk through Downtown Disney towards the Disneyland hotels. The start line isn’t far from the Disneyland hotels.
I head right to my corral and before long Carissa and Rudy are sending the first corral on their way. From there, it isn’t long before I’m on my way. Since I’m still not feeling well, and I still have a half marathon to go, I’m going to take it easy again today.
On a normal, “I feel pretty good” kind of day, I can run a 10k with no problem. But, since I feel rotten, running in general takes a lot of effort. I have been running 1/1 intervals; one minute run and one minute walk. Today it’s more like 3/1 intervals; three minute walk and one minute run. Walking isn’t too bad since it’s gives me an opportunity to take in the sites; and, let’s face it, this is the only way I’m going to see the theme parks this trip. All I want to do is sleep so I won’t be riding Star Tours or Big Thunder Mountain on this trip. Bummer, but I still have Dumbo later this year so I will be back (I wrote that in my best Arnold Schwarzenegger impression).
The course takes us through both parks again but there is also some backlot and some street running. I did see more of the parks today though since it wasn’t dark. The parks have some different areas than the Florida parks and I really wish I was going to be able to enjoy my tickets. At least I have something to look forward to in August! Here is the course map.
It wasn’t a great run but I did finish. The inaugural Tinker Bell 10k was a (semi) success. I finished in 1:22; not great but at least I got it done. I have one more race to make it through and I just want to get through it with a smile on my face.
Until then…happy running!
